Fire Sprinklers prevent major school fire

The fire sprinkler system installed in a school in Newcastle upon Tyne controlled and extinguished a fire in its Animal Care Classroom.  Just a single sprinkler head operated to extinguish the fire at Walbottle Campus school which originated from a faulty electrical heating lamp. The room escaped with little or no damage as did its residents; several guinea pigs, gerbils, a tortoise and tarantula spiders.  The survival of the small animals highlights the life saving potentiality of automatic fire sprinkler systems.
